Explorations — Role Model
A role model is a person who inspires and encourages us to strive for greatness, live to our fullest potential and see the best in ourselves. A role model is someone we admire and someone we aspire to be like. We learn through them, through their commitment to excellence and through their ability to make us realize our own personal growth. We look to them for advice and guidance. A role model is a person who has positively influenced someone in life. A role model can be anybody: a parent, a sibling, a friend, a teacher, athletes, movie stars and people from different facets of life and profession. Our Grade 3- 4 learners just explored this very crucial aspect of life and now through various intervention of differentiation between the popular and positive role models are able to identify and choose an appropriate role model and understand the influence of them in their life.
In this day and age, it is crucial to know why we follow whom we follow. And that’s precisely what the learners of Grades 3 and 4 explored as a part of their first explorations of the year. Learners explored the subject/topic/concept of Role Models. They learned to identify and differentiate the types of Role Models (media, athlete, community, etc), the qualities of a positive role model, the guiding factors, especially how beliefs and values help one make a wise choice of the role model. Besides, they have even understood how the their role model influences their choice, behaviour and lifestyle, and perception of the world and self.
